Written by Kelly Murphy on 30th October 2015

Kent County Council has announced the winners of the 2015 Kent Learning Disability Awards, and Lorna O’Shea, Director of Accommodation – Yes has won the Supporting Housing Award!
The awards are in place to celebrate heroes who are making a difference to others. More than 120 nominations were received for people, businesses, and services, and the panel of judges were impressed by those who are going the extra mile to support and improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.
The worthy winners attended a ceremony on the 13th October 2015 at County Hall, Maidstone, to receive awards from Kent County Council leader, Paul Carter, the Joint Chair of the Kent Learning Disability Partnership Board, Sam Holman, and the Shadow Joint Chair of the Kent Learning Disability Partnership Board, Daniel Hewitt.
Lorna O’Shea is the Director of Accommodation – Yes in Maidstone and successfully won the Supporting Housing Award. Lorna has provided accommodation for people with learning disabilities for 25 years and to her, the job goes way above just accommodation needs. Lorna is on call 24 hours a day and seeks involvement from her tenants regarding the running of the property, allowing them control over their lives.
Accommodation – YES is the sister company to Phoenix Support.
